What’s New – Fall/Winter 2008

Earlier this fall Basil Tree Catering joined Somerville Local First.  Their mission is to work with local business and the community to encourage support of local Somerville businesses to strive toward sustainability. To learn more go to www.somervillelocalfirst.org.  One of the benefits is learning about lots of fun creative businesses right here in Somerville.

Many of you are probably tired of hearing that our on-line ordering is coming soon.  Well, after some hitches in coordinating it with our data base, we are on our way to success.  We will be in the test phase soon and hope to go on-line in January.  Thanks for your patience.

Our composting is going very smoothly.  We have added another bin to our collection and are now up to 400-500 lbs of compostables per week.  It is a great feeling to see how small our garbage pile is each week.  To learn more see http://www.savethatstuff.com

On the staff front, one of our first Basil Tree babies, Stephanie, who used to sleep in a bread tray at Basil Tree is now a freshman at college.  The daughter of Irene and Carlos is now at Washington & Lee University in Virginia.  She is enjoying school but misses home and Basil Tree cooking.

Our new menu went out at the end of September.  Let us know if you would like to receive a copy. . Thanks to all who gave suggestions.  We are always open to new ideas, just contact valerie.shulock@basiltree.com.   Thanks!
