Happy New Year !

We are very happy to announce that, due to the positive response, we will be continuing our Free Lunch promotion indefinitely into 2010. You will continue to have the option of having a bagged lunch, complete with sandwich, side, and dessert, sent with your catering delivery.

Basil Tree helped a great cause this past Thanksgiving baking 135 pecan pies for Community Servings' annual Pie in the Sky fundraiser. We were one of over 150 vendors who helped Community Servings raise over $420,000 dollars this year to provide meals to be delivered to homebound individuals and families with lifethreatening illnesses. Basil Tree donated the space and ingredients to make the pies while many employees and friends volunteered their time to help bake a record 135 pies for Basil Tree.

Recipe of the Month--Chicken Marbella

8              boneless chicken breast (half breast)
3/4 cup    dried prunes
3/4 cup    dried apricots
1/2 cup    Spanish green olives-pitted
1/4 cup    capers

Sauce
1/4 cup    red wine vinegar
1/4 cup    olive oil
1/2 cup    white wine
1/2 cup    brown sugar
1 tbs        garlic chopped
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp     black pepper
1 tsp        oregano
3              bay leaves

Whisk together sauce, toss with rest of ingredients. Marinate for 1-3 hours in refrigerator. Bake uncovered on 350 for approx. 40 minutes. Serve hot.
