Spring/Summer 2008

Here at Basil Tree Catering, we’re excited to enhance our website to be more resourceful than ever before. We encourage you to check in often as we will be updating the website regularly with BT staff news, environmental initiatives, on-line ordering features and menu enhancements.

To kick off this month’s newsletter we are excited to be working with the Eagle Eye Institute located right here in Somerville. They provide programs for youth in urban environments to experience natural environments and we are happy to be providing them with food for two upcoming events. Check them out at http://www.eagleeyeinstitute.org

Just this month we instituted a new compost system.  We collecting all of our food waste, coffee grinds and other compostables to be picked up by Save that Stuff.  We are tickled pick to discover we have already cut our garbage production in half. To learn more about what they do, go to http://www.savethatstuff.com

On the staff front, we are excited to announce that Colin, our friendly customer service manager is engaged to be married.  His fiancé is lots of fun and even comes to help us out when we make pies to raise funds for Community Servings every November.

Cheche the puppyTwo puppies have joined the Basil Tree family.  Irene, our kitchen manager, and her husband Carlos, our head chef, are the proud parents of Che Che a champagne Havanese and Zoe a Silky Terrier keeps Rada, our accounts manager, on her toes.

The next phase of our web development is to have an easy on-line ordering system with drop down menus and instant quotes.  Our computer consultants are working diligently to get this system up and running.  We are hoping to have it in the test phase in the next month and then ready for business at the end of July.  We will keep you posted.

As we work to update our menu for the on-line ordering and fall semester, we encourage you to give us any feedback that would help us serve you better.  Any special requests for menu items, earth friendly ideas, web or delivery suggestions will be appreciated.  If we use your suggestion, you get a Basil Tree mug as a thank you from us.  Just send along an e-mail to valerie.shulock@basiltree.com.   Thanks!
