Return Items with our Basil Bin Program

Basil Tree developed the Basil Bin program as a means to pick up any platters, lids, and serving utensils from our catered events to save these products from ending up in the waste stream. If you request to use a basil bin, our drivers pick up the bins the business day following the event and we sanitize all the items so that they can continue to be used over and over again.

Choose Reusable Options

Avoid using single use or disposable boxes if you can. Basil Tree offers returnable beverage dispensers for coffee, tea, water, lemonade, iced tea, and cider. Bulk beverages can make a great choice events of any size, they reduce waste, and save you $$$!

Compost
|
|
We offer only compostable paper products and cutlery from World Centric and Hoffmaster. We don’t automatically add these products on because we find that, increasingly, our customers are using their own reusable plates and cutlery.

Save That Stuff picks up all of the food waste produced at Basil Tree to be composted.

Choose Fair Trade
|
|
By choosing fair trade products, you are supporting small farms and artisans, giving them a space in the global market. Fair Trade products are also produced with best ethical and sustainable practices.
Basil Tree sources our sugar, chocolate fromEqual Exchange and coffee from Recreo Coffee.

We know it’s not always easy or even possible to be a perfect ambassador of sustainable choices. We admit that we are not perfect, but we try to make the best decisions we can. For example, water bottles are a very popular item for catered events. Single use plastic isn’t great but we use Native water bottles. They are a locally owned and operated company and use bottles made from 100% recycled plastic which can then be recycled again.
